Wondering when the PL-adaptor mount will be available for S4i Cooke lenses?
Start a 13 episode drama TV-feature the first week of May for public broadcast (VRT/Eén)
Everything is shot on Alexa but there are a lot of car interior scenes.
There is an option to shoot these scenes wit the 5D an de the Cooke lenses recorded via a Ki-pro.
Is this future-wise a possibility. Option is to do this with 3 5D's.
    Thanx for reply.

hi Chaps i purchased a V2A to marry a set of Zeiss CP2 primes with a Canon 5D, and although the PL lenses mount with no dramas onto the camera they do not maintain focus passed a very short distance.

    21MM up to 2ft
    35MM up to 3ft
    50MM up to 4ft
    85MM up to 5ft

This renders the kit quite useless in most shooting situations.

I can whole heartedly not recommend this product. I have contacted KCW about this but have been met with silence.

    Disappointing waste of money.

Bryan, we have not received any correspondence from you. We always address our customers. Regarding your desired results, we have not only made manual lens-testing instructional video available, we have also made RENTAL available for both V1A & V2A.

Once again, we do not make the cameras nor lenses, as well we have published articles regarding adapting cinema lenses to DSLRs.

We do not wish to have unhappy customers paying for products not wanted. However we would appreciate our customers recognizing us providing OUR Research & Development findings as well as great service; but we are not able to force anyone to read, so again understand:

    1) DSLR manufacturers manufacture their own branded photography lenses and is a large portion of their business. Specs for FFD is purposely designed different.

    2) We do not release a "simple" list of lenses that "works" simply because; a) these are "mount" adapters, they will properly mount PL to EF. b) AS WE PUBLISHED, we have tested many many lenses and find modifications, not just limited to collimation makes drastic differences. Even when you use Zeiss's EF Mount with your CP, you will still need to shim and adjust collimation to achieve focus.

    3) There is absolutely no element (glass) in either V1A nor V2A, if had done a Manual Lens Test, what made you believe you would have gotten any different a result than the Manual Lens Test?

Though we understand some of our customers expect professional equipment to function as simple point-and-shoot cameras and most often care more about spreading their own opinions and nescient thoughts, there does come a point when blatant bullshit need calling out. Bryan, you are full of yourself and bullshit.

However you are a customer and as previously stated, we do not wish for unhappy customers paying for products not wanted. Email or call us (at normal CA business hours) and we will determine a proper rental rate for you and accept/issue you a partial refund.

As due our business motto and abusive/slanderous customers, your practice will be documented on our No-Further-Business Listing that we adhere to and also share with verified businesses.

Alway makes me feel bad to see bad customers. As a business owner myself and having rented then purchased both adapters, I completely understand KCW.

V1A and V2A both works great. I have used Angenieux, Zeiss, Taylor Hobson, and even a bnc, that's right, bnc mount, with these adapters. I will be using a Canon 1.4 extender with V1 and a Russian lens I just orrdered to see how far I can punch.

I will not pretend I know everything technical and I know enough to study up on something I do not know. I called KCW and got to speak with Alex, who I believe is KCW. A true gentleman and very very knowledgeable. Recommended that I do a manual lens test then rent first to see if they did what I want first before buying. That says alot about a business when they recommend you to make sure you like something and not jus busy pushing products on you.

My experiences with PL lenses so far has been grabbing infinity focus around 50mm+ is no problem. With Zeiss CP1, had to manually adjust collimation to get infinity focus.

A little bit of studying and a bit of attention will get some fantastic results using pl lenses, v1a and v2a aapters with these little Canon cameras.

Don't let bad customers get to you. You have many good and loyal customers out here.

Is there a way to post videos on here?

JD, we completely understand the "confusion" surrounding adapting cinema lenses to motion-picture-capable DSLRs. We endeavor our best to alleviate the confusions without disrupting/disrespecting businesses/individuals (less blatant unethical conduct), and make market-solid practical products.

Issue here is not with one product, but rather balance with several. There is not a single silver bullet; fix-it-all solution here.

FFD (Flange Focal Distance) for Cinema Lenses (Zeiss, Arri, Angenieux, etc) are between 50-65mm and Canon EF bodies are designed to be 44mm. Thus balancing solutions are either push lens to longer Flange Focal Distance, adjust collimation coupled with shimming or adjust shooting style to match desired effect.

Either way, "A little bit of studying and a bit of attention will get some fantastic results using pl lenses, v1a and v2a aapters with these little Canon cameras." is the best advice we have yet read. Thank you.

Please email us and allow us to provide you with discount code for future purchases. And if you are local or ever find yourself in Hollywood, please call and stop by for a visit.

For videos, we have been increasingly using YouTube and Vimeo to host then simply embedding. If you have issues, please send an email and our web dept. will handle accordingly.

    Happy Holidays JD.
